Christmas!

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Christmas Greetings

Fr. David

Do not be afraid, for See — I am bringing you Good News of Great Joy for all the People: to you this day is born in the City of David, a Savior, who is Christ, the Lord.”

This is the Proclamation by the Angel of God! And what a Wonderful Message it is! A Message so Ancient yet Forever New, to the humblest of the people of the day; the shepherds and to us Stricken and anxious about Covid19 – Pandemic

The Message of the Angel sounded Simple but yet it’s Reality was  unfathomable; God physically among us, Humanity; Eden all over again.

This is Why we celebrate Christmas; in thanksgiving to God Our Father; for this Great Miracle in Creation! For in the Face of Baby Jesus, God became visible among his People.

Who could have imagined that this little baby in the simplest of human conditions, wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in the manger was the Son of the Most High?

Yet this is Who He Is. Ordinary –Yes! / Fragile- Yes! Helpless – Yes! Dependent –Yes! – But the “Word of God who existed before all Creation.”

He is the Fulfillment of all Prophecies that spanned for thousands of Years / in Our Salvation History.

To Abraham God promised I will make you a father of a great Nation,” “And many will be blessed through you.

To David in last Sunday’s 1st Reading, I will build a House for you.”  – I will raise up/ An offspring after you — I will be a Father to him, and he shall be a son to me.

From Mica the Prophet behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call him Emmanuel!

And to Isaiah the Prophet, in this Night’s, 1st Reading, For a Child has been born for us, A Son given to us; – he is named wonderful counselor, mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

He, The Son of God became Man and lived among us, /so that / in him and through him /We/ Human Beings, who respond generously to the Love of God, – would be Elevated anew into the Sphere God intended us to be in before the Sin of Adam and Eve.

Christmas reveals Our Significance in the eyes of God  We are creatures beloved to Him, that’s He pursued us becoming one with us.

This is why with the multitude of Angels and the whole Creation, we should explode in joy, singing; Glory to God in the highest, and on earth Peace to those on whom his favor rests!

Last Christmas, as I was walking around the entrance of the Church welcoming People and wishing them Merry Christmas /a little girl, beautifully dressed came accompanying her parents and elder brother. This 4 year old on reaching the doors of the Church /just took off in a run / to the front of the Church and in front of the Altar – climbed the steps and went straight to the Nativity scene and to baby Jesus. I watched her bend down and/ hold /her baby Doll to see Baby Jesus.

After the family took their seats, I went to them and I asked the girl softly, why she brought her baby doll to the Church – She gave me that Look, puzzled as if to ask me – “Even you Father, you do not know the answer to that question?” She replied gently –“to see baby Jesus!” “Smiled and continued to straighten the hair of the baby doll!

********What an Amazing Answer ********

In Bethlehem, we heard that after the shepherds//were given by the Angel, the Good News, they urged one another;

“Let us go over to Bethlehem and see /these things / that have taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.” “And they went in haste….”

Like the Shepherd of Bethlehem, and like the little girl, let us thirst to encounter God / through Baby Jesus and in the Eucharist.

And encountering Him, let us become true Ambassadors of His Peace; True ambassadors of His Hope to all we meet; Ambassadors of Love in our Neighborhoods.

As we continue the Celebrations of Christmas with our Loved Ones, Let us ask God, Our Father to ignite in us the Joy of being–found worthy to live in his Presence.

***May God Bless you and Merry Christmas to You All, Amen. ***
